DAY 178: The Bungalows of Sugarhouse, SLC

I was in SLC on Thursday so I ran up to the Bungalows of Sugarhouse to take some pictures and match some colors.  This is a small development of about 7 houses all in a modern bungalow style.  This is, once again, the house I fell in love with:

The front porch of the home.  The details on this home are great and not overdone.

Here are a few shots of the other homes.  They are all similar in style with repeated colors.  Love, love, love the details.

This is the gate at the development:

DAY 177: HVAC, plumbing and deck in a couple of days!

We are plugging along!  This week we had workers come in to place the heating/cooling ducts and the plumbing/water lines.  Our house is getting some insides!  (We're getting better at referring to is as "our house" instead of "the lot").  It is exciting to see all of these lines going in.

Our two tubs even got placed!

The framers worked on our living room windows.  They moved over the upper windows.  Now the left windows match.  We just need our concrete cutter to move over the bottom right window.
Here's another progress shot of our house.  I love the little mini porch on the north of the house.  It opens up directly into a mud room.  This will be the entrance that we will use most often as a family.  The front porch will be for friends and family who come to visit.

DAY 167: Brent Works While the Family is Away....

Brent worked for the entire day while the rest of us were at various events.  We were able to find two of Cole's friends who came to help.  Brent installed a door in the garage basement while the boys cleaned, cut more insulation (everyone is feeling tired of styrofoam by now), and knocked out the bracing in the garage basement and the house cold storage.

While Brent worked Cole was at a Robotics competition in SLC.  It was a three day event and he LOVED it!  It was interesting to attend.  The task was to build a robot that could shoot basketballs and also climb and balance on a teeter-toter type of platform.  Sierra and I were at a Dress Rehearsal for the General YW Meeting.  The Choir has been a once in a lifetime experience for both of us.  I can't wait for this Saturday--our YW will shine!

( PS, I did finally fix the date stamp on Sierra's camera....)

Here is the competition court (left) and the pit (right) for the Robotics Competition in the Maverick center.  There were teams from Idaho, Texas, Colorado, Nevada, and more locations.

The girlies came for a visit.  Estee loved that they had kid sized safety glasses!

DAY 160: Saturday Clean-up, a Family Tradition

We spent our Saturday cleaning up.  There was lots of lumber burning, sweeping, insulation cutting, stack moving, bolt placing, and kid grumbling.  But it all ended happy with a hot dog/smores roast in the evening!

DAY 158: We've Got A Roof!!!

WOW!  We have a roof!  It actually looks like a house now! (Still haven't fixed that date stamp, urrrgggg)

Framers talking about how to do the side porch:
Oops...Check out the windows below.  This is in our front room, living room.  Eventually there will be a fireplace right under the lower set of windows but not for a few years.  The windows do not line up.  We have to hire a concrete cutter to move the two bottom windows.  That's the consequence of working in concrete....

DAY 155: We're Getting a Roof!

Here comes the roof!  It's exciting to see it come together!

Spectacular Timp in our backyard.  I'm not ever going to get tired of looking at that mountain!

On Friday I went over to the house to shovel snow out of my dining room, living room, kitchen, bedroom, laundry, etc.  Two framers were there and it took the three of us 1 1/2 hours to shovel the snow out.  We do not have a large house--just large snow.  We dumped a good bunch of it out the dining room "doors" (or hole where the doors will eventually be housed).  Three days later the pile of snow is still big:

DAY 151: Trusses on the Main House

Kodiak builders began to put up the trusses on the Main House.  We had some hic-ups with bolts being too low, styrofoam too high, and a few off measurements.  But, the trusses are going up!  It's starting to look like a house!

The garage has half a roof now!  Pretty exciting!
