DAY 98: 700 Holes

700 holes, yup, 700 holes drilled into concrete.  After 1 1/2 days of solid labor the joists are finally hanging in the new brackets.  Each bracket had 6-7 screws:

This photo shows on the left how the brackets were supposed to look.  The brackets on the right are newly installed.  We will have to replace the Styrofoam insulation that was ripped out for the brackets.he floor joists are now locked into the brackets and we have a floor!  (pictures coming later)  Brent said this house is going no where (I'm beginning to believe it..).  My brother Adam called our house "the bunker".  Pretty sure we will be earthquake proof.

After "How's the house?" the next common question is "when do you think you will be finished?"  I don't know the answer.  We hope it's last year.  But since that has already come and gone we are hoping ASAP.  We are learning a lot being owner builders and I think it also takes more time.  There is a HUGE learning curve.  We hope for spring/fall.  At a minimum I hope to be celebrating Christmas 2012 in our new concrete home!  (I asked Estee to show some teeth when she smiled, this was the result!)
