So, as part of that pour we're getting porch steps, side porch steps (YAY! No more walking the plank to get into the house), and stoops (the door thresholds). Since we're also getting the stoops we will be able to install the doors (double YAY!).
July was a busy month. Aside from making house corrections we also needed to whip two rentals into shape. That occupied our past two weeks. In early July a tenant left with NO warning (after 7+ years of renting from us) . Ugh! She also left her stuff and a mess. We had to store everything for 30 days and then clean, clean, clean. It's been a challenge to say the least. We keep telling the kidlettes that 2012 was "The Summer of Work" (and swim team). I am proud of my children. They know how to resurrect a yard, wash out cupboards, scrub toilets, clean ovens, sanitize fridges, wash windows, repair swamp coolers, get on roofs and clean rain gutters, wash walls and baseboards, work on carpet spots, haul loads to DI, hook up and drive trailers, dump said trailers, ETC. Now of course it isn't all peaches and cream when we work, there is much grumbling. We have all sacrificed any type of summer vacation. But Brent and I hope that they will carry this ethic into their adult lives.
This morning I was greeted by a sunflower who just bloomed. LOVE IT! We have a little garden at our current rental and hope to have a giant pumpkin (and a little produce) by October. The dirt keeps me happy. I just keep forgetting to pick the cucumbers and end up with mammoth cucs that I can't eat....
