DAY 373: Garage Door...CHECK! The Lovely Smell of Lacquer....

Stu (from Stu's Garage Doors, highly recommend, he knows his stuff and only sells Martin doors...) installed our entire garage door in 1 1/2 hours.  All by himself.  Love the door!
Love the little windows, done this way to tie into the windows on the house!
Brent has been finishing the doors.  Layer after layer of lacquer.  He has done a beautiful job and our front door will make a statement!  Hopefully (pretty sure) it will be a great statement!
These are the fan-shmastic door handles.  Brent and I haven't disagreed much during this process (what to have, what not to have, size of house, rooms, design, our tastes) and have been pretty united style wise. ( I drug my feet on the whole ICF thing.  That was painful for Brent.)  We both LOVE the front door handle.  The egg knob is the interior knob.

And look carefully...the lot one house away is now being surveyed.  That's where we were a year ago.  Let's hope that they don't beat us too.  Chances are looking pretty bright that at least THEY won't beat us.
I spent another hour at the cabinet shop.  Brent came to look at the cupboard color and he likes it.  It's a "dark walnut" color.  We took cabinets from the repossessed kitchen and worked to fit the puzzle to complete our kitchen.  We're hoping that there is a SIGNIFICANT price drop.  I heard on the radio that Americans have come to EXPECT good deals.  I certainly fall into that category.

Things seem to be moving at warp speed now.  I figure anything seems fast after all the work we have put into the place for the past year.  Ohhhh...I dream about having Saturdays back again.

One of our favorite Saturday fieldtrips was always NPS Market Square in SLC.  If you haven't gone, and you like bargains but bargains that you have to search for, I recommend.  It's off of California Avenue on I-215.  Be sure to check the outdated yogurt section, there is always an abundance of yogurt.  They have a full  grocery store, fabrics, toys, office supplies, clothes, electronics, party items, shoes, not to mention another entire warehouse dedicated to tools.  If you are frugal and a penny pincher or love to treasure hunt and are not afraid to get dirty (not kidding) then this is the place for you!

  1. Lisa, we love the details you have in your home and appreciate the tremendous amount of work you've had to do. Quarter-sawn oak cabinets?! Dentils?! Groovy Arts and Crafts style doorknobs? You had us at "hello." :)
